In the summer of 1975, jazz impresario Norman Granz gathered a powerhouse ensemble—Dizzy Gillespie’s Big 7—and embarked on a European odyssey. From backstage camaraderie to blistering bebop solos, viewers witness Gillespie, Roy Eldridge, Clark Terry, and tenor titans “Lockjaw” Davis and Johnny Griffin trading lightning-fast phrases. Highlights include electrifying Montreux Festival sets, Milt Jackson’s shimmering vibes duels, and Tommy Flanagan’s piano virtuosity driving the rhythm section.
