From backstage camaraderie to blistering bebop solos, viewers witness Gillespie, Roy Eldridge, Clark Terry, and tenor titans “Lockjaw” Davis and Johnny Griffin trading lightning-fast phrases. Highlights include electrifying Montreux Festival sets, Milt Jackson’s shimmering vibes duels, and Tommy Flanagan’s piano virtuosity driving the rhythm section.
