The Aleutians: Cradle of the Storms

The Aleutians: Cradle of the Storms is a two-part documentary series that was a U.S./New Zealand co-production. It explores a volatile 2,000-kilometre chain of volcanic islands stretching between Alaska and Siberia. Enduring some of the harshest weather on earth, this desolate landscape has rightfully earned the nickname “the Cradle of the Storms.” For 9,000 years, its remote indigenous population lived in self-sufficient harmony with the sea, developing a rich and resilient culture. However, their ancient way of life was forever changed by successive waves of invaders.
